Program Details

The Wayland Little League summer program provides baseball programs for players who wish to continue to play over the summer between the normal spring and fall sessions at a time when many teams and players do not typically play.

The main goal of the program is to offer something to keep kids physically active during the summer months and have some fun making new friends and playing baseball.

 

Grades K-1

The WLL summer baseball program is open to all players in grades K-1.  

This four week program will combine instruction and live game play!  
Players will increase their skills, play real games, and most importantly - have fun!  

A great way to cap the end of a summer day.

  • The program is held every Tuesday and Thursday in July
  • 5pm-6:30pm at Cochituate Field in Wayland.
  • The program features parent volunteer coaches plus professional coaches from Frozen Ropes
  • 90 minutes per session.

 

Summer Jimmy Fund League

Wayland participates in the Jimmy Fund League Little League  which gives more than 5,000 New England Little League baseball and softball players the chance to continue playing after their regular season ends. Off the field, these young fundraisers work together with their community to raise vital support for Dana-Farber’s groundbreaking cancer research and compassionate patient care initiatives.

The Jimmy Fund League provides league play for players in grades 2 through 6. Wayland participate in the Jimmy Fund West League. This league is an instructional / developmental league with a 10 game schedule and playoff.

The league is structured as follows

  • Summer Jimmy Fund Farm League, Grade 2
  • Summer Jimmy Fund League for Grades 3 & 4
  • Summer Jimmy Fund League Grades 5 & 6
  • Wayland typically play surrounding towns like Weston Sudbury, Stow and Maynard.
  • Games and practices will take place weeknights Mon-Friday.
  • The season typically in the last week in June and ends in early August with playoffs

 

Minuteman Baseball Summer League

The Minuteman League summer program which Wayland participates in, provides a summer recreational baseball opportunity for the 13 to 16 year-old players.

The minuteman league provides competition for teams between the following towns:

  • Acton-Boxborough
  • Bolton
  • Carlisle
  • Dunstable
  • Littleton
  • Marlborough
  • Stow
  • Lincoln
  • Westborough
  • Westford
  • Ayer
  • Concord
  • Chelmsford
  • Groton
  • Maynard
  • Shirley
  • Sudbury
  • Wayland

Minuteman Baseball registation is available to Wayland boys ages 13 - 16*.

*(Each Summer Minuteman Baseball team is allowed three 16-yr-olds - with the restriction that 16-yr-olds cannot pitch).

Games will begin approx the week of June 23rd, with games being played on Monday through Thursday nights (no weekends). 

The schedule is:

  • Games begin the week of June 23rd
  • 12 game schedule.
  • 2 games a week
  • 1-2 practices a week. 
  • Evenings 5-8p.
  • Playoffs will begin on the first week of August
  • The season is usually finish around August 7th.
